This turn-of-the-century home was once a part of a larger 100-acre seaside estate. But over the years, the original estate had been subdivided – leaving the new property undefined and disconnected. A new pool was designed to create a more connected experience. The pool’s orientation extended the views from the main sunning terrace and on to the Long Island Sound in the distance. A mature magnolia further framed the view from the home’s terrace on to a custom gate flanked by hedged perennial gardens. The pool itself incorporated pebbles from the beaches that the homeowner played on as child – creating the ultimate connection.
